Music makes the world go round

Ever since I can remember, music has made MY world go round. Lately, staying up with the new latest and greatest bands has been a bit tough since school now is my number one. Also, the fact that I no longer work at Urban Outfitters makes it a little harder too because I would get most of my new music from the mixes they played, now I gotta do all of that on my own! Music is also the biggest thing I spend my money on. Whether its concert tickets or new vinyls, It's my biggest investment. So i'd like to share with you some of my most prized jams! Here are some songs I've been swooning over this summer!

Summer '11 playlist:
1. Twin Shadow- Castles in the Snow (anything Twin Shadow really)
2. Bon Iver- Holocene
3. Warpaint- Bees
4. Local Natives- Wide Eyes
5. Camera Obscura- Razzle Dazzle Rose
6. Fleet Foxes- Grown Ocean
7. The Smiths- There's a Light and it Never Goes Out (always be on my playlist)
8. Twin Sister- Phenomenons
9. Lyyke Li- Follow Rivers\
10. Washed Out- Feel It All Around
11. Best Coast- Our Deal
12. Blonde Redhead- Oslo
13. Beach House- Walk in the Park
14. Delorean- Stay Close
15. Joy Division- Ceremony

All these songs make me want to dance around uncontrollably! Enjoy!

Good eatings

Today I am going to blog about my good eatings this week because they were mighty good! First is Spaghetti Warehouse in Downtown Houston. I've heard about this place from so many people and not just about the food, I've also heard that this restaurant is one of the few restaurants that is haunted in Houston. The owner of the restaurant fell down the elevator shaft while it was being built, a horrible tragedy. Lots of customers since then have some odd things like a man sitting by himself at a table or seeing the ice machine being pushed on when no one was there, which is exactly what my mother saw while we were there. What I loved about Spaghetti Warehouse is how cheap it is yet the environment feels like a classy Italian restaurant. The upstairs has a set menu and it's 7.50 for entrees and that price includes bread, a salad and a drink but not gratuity. I picked the lasagna and it was delicious! They even put the cutest little Italian flag on top of it! There was also a trolley in the middle of the upstairs which had booths to sit in and eat. I loved it! Definitely one of the coolest restareunts I've been to!

Here are some pics. of Spaghetti Warehouse:

Next is a little place in Midtown Houston my good friend Marley took me to. It's called Coco's and boy do their crepes are AMAZING. Although, I did not get one, (instead I picked carrot cake my favorite) but I did taste my friends. She got a breakfast crepe that had eggs, sausage and cheese. The one bite I had was delicious and had me wanting more. They have fruit and other crepes like caramel apples crepes but you can also build your own and for only 5 bucks! We also had smoothies which were amazing and let me tell you I am the Smoothie Queen, I know every smoothie joint in Houston.

Here are some pics. of Coco's:

Lastly, last night me and the boy could not decide on a place to eat. I wanted meat and he wanted wings. He finally suggested going to the grocery store and buying steaks making them ourselves instead of going somewhere and paying twenty bucks for a tiny steak. We grabbed some potatoes and broccoli and steamed them with seasoning. Everything ended up so delicious. Probably the best meal I've had in a while. I was so proud of the hubby for making the steaks so well!

Hope everyone had a great weekend! Here's my outfit of the day:

Just can't get enough

Lately, I just can't get enough of Lykke Li's new album Rhymes. It's so different and I love how she mixes beats with a whole range of different sounds. Not only do I love her music but I love her fashion just as much. This woman is always seen wearing black and it's what she is infamous for. The typical Lykke Li outfit would be a black oversize shirt worn as a dress with a black blazer with shoulder pads, a few amazing long necklaces, a ring on each finger, with black tights and some ridiculously high bootie wedges. She is a fashion icon for lots of fashion lovers around the world and she is one of mine as well. Even though her fashion is rather dark, it's just like her music it is so different!

Here are some of my favorite pictures of this beautiful woman:

Love for the Wang

My brand new, in the box, ten dollar Vera Wang Wedges came in the mail today. I actually wasn't really expecting all that much for ten bucks but as soon as I opened the box an overwhelming excitement came over me. I'm pretty sure these are my new favorite shoes. (I say that every week, I know) After trying them on and realizing they are more than perfection I began to squeal "I LOVE MY WANGS". I think my shoe obsession has gone beyond obsession at this point and has turned into love.

Remember these babys that I posted earlier on my summer wishlist post?
Photobucket
Well, they're my babys now! After seeing them go on sale on the Anthropologie website, I zoomed to my nearby store and scooped them up. Fashion bloggers have been ranting and raving about 80%20's brand and how amazing they are and they did not let me down. It should be illegal for a shoe to be this comfortable! The sole has a 1/4 inch thick of leather cushioning that just molds your foot. I could wear these all day! And I plan on doing that exact thing :)

Before I leave with my outfit of the day, I'd like to share with you one of my favorite things about summer. In Pasadena where I grew up there is a little tiny place that sells "raspas" in English I guess this would be snowcones. They sell a sort of mango smoothie that has lemon and powdered chile. It makes your taste buds drool. They also sell "elotes" which in English would be corn. But this is no ordinary corn, it has cheese, mayonaise and mexican powdered chile all throughout it. It is the most delicious thing in the world. These two things together are the perfect summer snack and I drive almost 30 minutes just to get it. It also reminds me of my childhood since I basically grew up on these. See for yourself!

TGIF

This past Friday was just one of those days where everything went perfectly. I have been dreading getting a hair cut for years now because of a past traumatic experience but I finally decided to take the plunge and I am so very glad I did. Miss Natalie from PRETTY ON PURPOSE saved my hair from true death. For the past 3 years I've let my hair grow out and do it's own thing but I finally wanted a bit of a shape to it and layers. The result was absolutely amazing. My hair went from being frizzy and ugly to healthy and pretty for once!

My hair dresser works wonders! She also recommended this hair mousse to keep my hair shiny and less frizzy! Aveda also works wonders because this stuff is the best!

Before getting my hair cut I stopped by my new favorite dessert spot for some cupcakes and macaroons (one was a special present for my lovely friend)! Its called SWEET and they have every wonderful flavor of everything! I drool just thinking about it.

I also got a little shopping done before the day ended. I stopped by my favorite store Anthropologie and picked up an pair of amazing shoes and some other goodies.

I think these are by far my favorite and most comfortable pair of wedges yet. These are the kind of shoes that I can myself keeping forever until I am old.

I also accomplished something Ive been trying to do for a while now. I finally learned how to do a mermaid tail or a fish tail as some people call it! It actually is not quiet difficult just VERY time consuming. Probably took me a good 20 minutes. Also, this is my first successful try so with practice Im sure it'll look better since I know this isn't the best!

Hope everyone is having an amazing Tuesday! I'll leave you with my outfit of the day!

SWOON

While surfing the internet a while ago, I came upon a store for wedding attire and decorations owned by Anthropologie called BHLDN. AUTOMATIC SWOON. Of course anything that has to do with Anthropologie is going to be amazing. They have everything from wedding gowns and bridesmaids dresses to cake toppers and placeholders. Everything is absolutely wonderful. Whether you want to buy your big day dress or just want to buy a beautiful dress to glare upon this collection has absolutely the most beautiful dresses to choose from. I could definitely see myself buying my own wedding gown one day from this store. Funny thing, I actually think my new obsession is anything having to do with weddings. Lately, all I like to do with my free time is look at wedding photography. This could be potentially dangerous. And guess what? Their first store ever will open in Houston in mid August right next to a Anthropologie. Lucky me! Better believe that I will be the first one in there trying on dream dresses!

Here are a few of BHLDN's genius creations: (sorry for the picture overload, I just couldn't pick a few!)
